RECENT DEATHS

Prospero Pacheco Alexander, 86, of Portsmouth, passed away July 22, 2016. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He leaves three children, Stephen Alexander (Catherine) of Portsmouth, Beth Ethier (Bill) of Portsmouth, and David Alexander of N.Y., and seven grandchildren. Jennifer Ann Bartlett (née Barnard Hankey) passed away July 18, 2016. Friends are invited to join the family to celebrate her life on July 28 at 3 p.m. at St. Columba’s Chapel, Middletown.

Clyde “Kip” Cofield, 79, of Middletown, passed away July 21, 2016 at Newport Hospital. He leaves behind his wife, Sofi Janaros Cofield; two sons, Michael Cofield, of N.Y., and Steven Cofield (Patti), of Portsmouth; and three grandchildren. Ralph C. Craft, 70, of Newport, passed away July 20, 2016 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor and the Purple Heart. He leaves behind his wife, Dawn (Koprivica) Craft, and his children, Ralph Craft of Portsmouth, Sean Craft of Portsmouth, and Rebecca Moore of Conn. Jesse R. Dennis, 99, of Middletown, passed away July 24, 2016 at home. He was the husband of the late Anna Marie (Ryan) Dennis. He leaves behind his children, John Dennis of Middletown, Jesse Dennis of N.H., Arthur Dennis of Newport, Anna Marie Whitehead of Portsmouth, Sandra Gould of Portsmouth, and Sheila Toby of Middletown, 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 28, from 3-6 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home. His funeral will be July 29 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist, Newport. Donations in

Sheila J. (Dyer) Ventura, 74, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2016. She leaves behind her husband, John L. Ventura, and children, John Ventura (Nota Znika) of Newport and Elizabeth Dorsey (John) of Boston.

Katherine M. (Morrissey) Williams, “Kitty,” 88, of Newport, passed away July 22, 2016 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown. She was the wife of the late Lt. Gerald F. Williams. She leaves behind her three children, Nancy Tierno (Joe) of Middletown, Steven Williams (Janet) of Bristol, David Williams (Mary) of Fla., seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
