Lady Hibernian of the Year

Reverend Kris von Maluski, Terrie Champion Welford, Reverend John McNulty, and Sr Josephine St. Leger. The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians held a dinner to honor their 2016 Woman of the Year recipient, Terrie Champion Welford on July 29. Welford was chosen because of her outstanding contribution to the ladies, organization. She joined the LAOH in 1999 and has held the offices of Catholic Action, Vice President and President. She has been chairwoman of the St Brigid’s mass and Ceili, the VNS Flu Clinic and the Brigid Kelly Irish dance scholarship. She has also been on over 10 committees as a volunteer. Terrie has worked for Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties as a physical therapist and director for the past 17 years. She is a parishioner of St. Augustin’s Church and serves as a lector, choir member and on the Christmas bazaar committee. She is the daughter of William Champion III and the late Cecelia Champion, mother of Patrick Welford and Meaghan Welford McCarthy (husband Tim) and grandmother of Phoebe Welford McCarthy.
