Beach Idol Continues

On Thursdays (July 21 and 28, and Aug. 4 and 11), immediately following the Children’s Night performances, there is a non-judged open mic for children younger than six who wish to sing a tune. Kids from ages 6 to 16 are invited to sign up to sing for the 7 p.m. start of Beach Idol. The first 10 signing up get to perform that evening.

Youngsters have the option of accompanying themselves on guitar, singing a cappella, or playing a CD or cell phone through the beach sound system. There is a host and a panel of three judges who rate the acts.

On Tuesday, Aug. 16, the five winners of the weekly contests will compete in the finals during the season’s last concert and bonfire. The overall 2016 Beach Idol winner receives a recording session at Stable Sound Studio in Portsmouth and will be able to make his/her own professional CD.
