Bill Martin, Judy McLennan, and Rod O’Hanley Bill Martin, Judy McLennan, and Rod O’Hanley Prior to this summer’s C. Thomas Clagett Memorial Clinic and Regatta, scheduled for June 23-26 at Sail Newport, close to 180 supporters of the Paralympic world-class racing event gathered at the Sail into Summer fundraiser on June 2 at Belle Mer on Goat Island and enthusiastically added some serious ballast to the organization’s coffers.

“We raised approximately $62,000 gross from the auction,” said Clagett Board Chair Judy McLennan. She added that “north of $17,000” was raised for the fledgling Clagett Boat Grant Program. It was also announced at the party that the Y Knot program from Lake George, New York, “will be the recipient of the first [donated] boat, which will be a Sonar.”

The Clagett mission “is to provide sailors with disabilities the opportunity to improve their skills and reach personal goals through world-class coaching and competition.” The annual regatta “is North America’s premier event for sailors with disabilities sailing in the three Paralympic Class boats,” and is open to both U.S. and foreign competitors.
