Children’s Clothing Resale

Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St., will hold a children’s clothing resale on Saturday, June 4, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Emmanuel Day School. 401-847- 0675.

Clear Out the Clutter

Clear Out the Clutter and donate items for the Central Baptist Church June Festival on Saturday, June 18, from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Wood or wicker furniture, paintings, marine items, toys, working small appliances, plants and garden equipment, jewelry, gently used household items, antiques, sports equipment, and small or medium-size rugs may be dropped off from 9 a.m. - noon at the church on Saturdays, June 4 and 11. No TVs, computers, upholstered furniture, large appliances, entertainment centers, books, CDs or DVDs. Trinity Tour Guides Sought

Trinity Church is looking for volunteers to lead tours of the church. Guides must complete a two-hour training course on either Saturday, June 4 or 11, from 10 a.m.- noon. For more information or to volunteer, contact adminassistant@trinitynewport.org or call the church office at 401-846-0660.

Sacred Music Concert

On Sunday, June 5, at 4 p.m. the choirs of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will present “With Heart and Voice: a Concert of Sacred Music.” The concert is free and open to the public. Donations will support St. Mary’s music ministry. The church is located at the corner of Memorial Blvd. and Spring St. 401-847-0475.

Founders’ Day Evensong

On Sunday, June 5, at 5 p.m., Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St., will offer its Founders’ Day Evensong, sung by the Emmanuel Church choir. Everyone in the community is welcome. The organ prelude will be at 4:50 p.m. 401- 847-0675.

Week of Fasting and Prayer

From Monday, June 13-Friday, June 17, CrossPoint Church, 14 Rhode Island Ave., will hold a week of prayer and fasting to pray for our community. During this time, the sanctuary will be open at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. for prayer. 401-846-3064.

Sacred Nourishment Class

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, in partnership with Jeannette Bessinger, clean food coach, will present “Sacred Eating,” Wednesday, June 15, from 6-7:30 p.m. The aim is to bring connection, intuition and peace to daily eating habits. The church is located at 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth, and can be contacted at 401-846-9700.

Music on the Lawn

On Thursday, June 16, from 6-8 p.m., St. John’s Church, 61 Poplar St., will present Music on the Lawn. New York City’s Alex Battles will sing John Prine, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash tunes. Some seating and tables will be provided for those who come early. Otherwise, bring blankets and lawn chairs. Parking on the Point will be available during the show. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Admission is free, and donations will be appreciated. 401-848-2561.

Thrift Sale on the Point

On Friday, June 17, and Saturday, June 18, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., St. John’s Church, 61 Poplar St., will hold a thrift sale on the church grounds. Tables are available to rent for $20 per space. 401-848-2561.

Strawberry Festival

On Saturday, June 18, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Trinity Church, Queen Anne Square, will hold its fourth annual Strawberry Festival on the lawn. There will be strawberry shortcake, craft vendors and more. 401-846-0660.

People of Faith

Emmanuel Church welcomes the community to its new speaker series: Living As People of Faith 2.0. On Wednesday, June 15, the Jewish faith will be highlighted by guest speaker Lisa Kotlen. Kosher refreshments will be provided. The talk is from 6:45 - 8 p.m. in the church’s Guild Room.
