Thanks for Going Daffy

To the Editor:

Daffodillion would like to thank our volunteer committee, the Newport County Chamber of Commerce, Discover Newport and the many merchants who flew the festival flag, decorated their windows, and participated in the third annual Newport Daffodil Days Festival. Mother Nature shined on nine days of daffy fun at 20 different activities throughout the city. With thousands more daffodils planted each year, Newport is now becoming a “must see” attraction on New England’s spring calendar.

As memories of the festival wilt, so do the daffodils. A reminder: Do not cut or mow them back for a few more weeks. Their brown shoots still need their time in the sun to regenerate for next year – and countless years after.

Speaking of which, Daffodillion’s annual free bulb giveaway is scheduled for Oct. 15 at Easton’s Beach – mark your calendars and go to daffodillion.com for more information. 494,000 and counting!
