Violins at the Vineyards

Ealain (Gaelic for "art") McMullin, a violinist and member of the Newport String Project, assists Amari Massey in finding the proper chord during a recent practice at the Dr. Martin Luther King Center. On Saturday, April 30, the young violin and viola students from the MLK Center will make a special appearance by joining the Newport String Project in making music at the Aquidneck Growers' Market, held indoors at Newport Vineyards, from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Other MLK youth members of the musical group are Jayla Bartlett, Diego Alvizures, and Hannah Torres. Not pictured are members Isabella McDowell, Autumn Walker, and Juan Reyes. Later on April 30, the Newport String Project will be at Greenvale Vineyards at 7 p.m. performing quartets by Beethoven, Schubert and Gershwin. Known for their quality performances in both traditional and non-traditional venues, the Newport String Project invites audiences to experience great chamber music live and up close. Suggested donation is $15. (Photo by Jack Kelly)
