CNA Training

A Health Care Certified Nursing Assistant job skills training program is being offered for Newport County residents beginning May 16 by East Bay Skills Alliance, a program of East Bay Community Action Program.

Those interested in participating must attend one information and testing session, which will be offered on the following dates: Monday, April 25, from 9 a.m. - noon; Tuesday, April 26, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Wednesday, April 27, from 9 a.m. - noon; and Thursday, April 28, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at East Bay Community Action Program, 19 Broadway. Applications for the program will be distributed at the end of each information session.

The training will consist of work readiness/soft skills, resume and interviewing preparation, and six to eight weeks of certified nursing assistant instruction. A 120-day temporary license will be issued after successful completion of the CNA training. Classes will meet for five and a half hours per day, five days per week. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Cost to students is $5 for BCI during enrollment, $99 testing fee, and $35 licensing fee due just before clinical.
