Easter Services

Calvary United Methodist, 200 Turner Rd., Middletown, will hold Good Friday service at 7 p.m. An Easter Sunday sunrise service at Easton’s Beach Rotunda begins at 6 a.m. Worship at the church at 10:30 a.m. 401-847-6181.

The Chapel of Hope at the naval station will offer Good Friday worship is 5 p.m. for Roman Catholics and 6:30 p.m. for Protestants. On Easter Sunday, Protestant services will be at 7:45 a.m., and Roman Catholic Mass at 9 a.m. Routine base access is required. 401-841- 2234.

Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St., will hold Good Friday service at 6 p.m. Saturday, the Great Vigil of Easter at Trinity Church, 7:15 p.m. Easter Sunday services are at 8 and 10 a.m., with an Easter egg hunt at about 11:30 a.m. following the 10 a.m. service. 401-847-0675.

First Presbyterian Church, Broadway at Everett Street, will hold Easter Sunday worship at 9 and 11 a.m. Coffee fellowship will be held between Easter services at 10 a.m. 401-847-1749.

Portsmouth United Methodist Church, 2732 East Main Road, will offer a 6a.m. Easter sunrise service at Easton’s Beach Rotunda. The 8 and 10 a.m. services will be at the church, 401-683-4005.

St. Columba’s Chapel, at 55 Vaucluse Ave., Middletown, offers Good Friday liturgy at 8:30 a.m., Stations of the Cross from 12-3 p.m.

and 7:30 p.m. service; and Easter Sunday, 8 a.m., family service at 9:30 a.m. and choral service at 11 a.m. There will be an Easter egg hunt following the 9:30 service. Nursery care will be available Easter from 9:30 a.m. through the 11 a.m. service. 401-847-5571.

St. John the Evangelist, at the corner of Washington and Willow streets, will hold Good Friday services at 6:30 p.m. The Easter Vigil begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, with the Emmanuel Church parish. Easter Sunday service is at 10 a.m. 401-848-2561.

St. Lucy’s Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, will offer Good Friday, Stations of the Cross at 3 p.m. and the Lord’s Passion at 7 p.m. The Easter Vigil Mass will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Holy Saturday. Easter Sunday Masses will be at 8, 9:30, and 11 a.m. There will be no 5 p.m. Mass.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Memorial Boulevard and Spring Street, will offer silent prayer and meditative music from noon-3 p.m. on Good Friday and celebration of the Lord’s Passion will be at 3 p.m. Easter Masses will be on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. 401-847-0475.

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth, will hold Good Friday services at 7 p.m. The Great Vigil on Saturday will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Church in Newport. Easter Sunday services will be at 8 and 11 a.m. 401-846-9700.

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 87 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, will offer a Good Friday’s ecumenical service at noon, and the episcopal service will be held at 7 p.m. Easter Eucharists will be at 8 and 10 a.m. 401-423-1762.

St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 12 Marlborough St., will offer an Easter sunrise service at Easton’s Beach Rotunda at 6 a.m. and a service at the church at 10 a.m. 401-846-0966.

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 525 Broadway, will hold a Good Friday Tenebrae service at 7 p.m. The Easter Vigil begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Easter Sunday services are at 9:30 a.m., with an Easter brunch and egg hunt following the service. 401-846-9567.

Trinity Church will offer Good Friday services at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Easter Sunday services are at 8 and 10 a.m. with an Easter egg hunt following the 10 a.m. service. 401- 846-0660.

United Congregational Church, 524 Valley Rd., Middletown, on Good Friday the sanctuary will be open 12-6 p.m. and the labyrinth will be available in Farnum Hall from 2-6 p.m. Easter Sunday services are at 9 and 11 a.m. The 9 a.m. service will feature a special children’s time.
