RECENT DEATHS

Louise (Furna) Alves, 92, of Middletown, passed away Feb. 18, 2016 at the Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown. She was the wife of the late Joseph T. Alves. She leaves behind her children, Joseph Alves of Middletown, Louis Alves of Newport, Connie Caetano (Henrique) of Middletown, and Maryann Maghuyop of Middletown, nine grandchildren, and 13 greatgrandchildren. Howard Little Jr., 87, of Fort Worth, formerly of Newport, passed away Feb. 3, 2016. He was born Aug. 17, 1928 in Taunton, Mass. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Fort Worth Carswell Air force Base in 1952, where he met his wife. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Lois Jean (Pawless) Little; his children, Terry Dean Little and Kimberly Jean Dill; his grandchildren, Collin, Elaina, Braden, and Weston Dill; and several family members, including his sisters, Norma Barry and Noreen Mosher, and his brothers, Jackie, Hubert, and Ronald Little. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and a longtime member of West Freeway Church of Christ.

Mary M. “Margot” Murphy, 64, of Middletown, passed away Feb. 21, 2016 after a brief illness at Newport Hospital. Donations in her memory may be made to the James L Maher Center, P.O. Box 4390, Middletown, RI 02842.

Mary Ann (Kaspar) Russell, 85, of Newport, passed away Feb. 17, 2016 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport. She was the wife of the late Col. William H. Russell Jr., U.S. Army. She leaves behind her children, William Russell of Portsmouth, and Kathleen Russell of Newport and her two granddaughters. Her funeral services are private. Chester E. “Chet” Straka III, 71, of Newport, passed away Feb. 18, 2016 at Newport Hospital. He leaves behind his wife, Patricia A. (Gaglio) Straka; his sons, Russell Straka of Newport and Thomas Straka of San Diego; his stepdaughter, Audrey Gaglio of Bristol; and four grandchildren.
