Romans’ Lasting Legacy in France

The Alliance Française of Newport will host a program titled “Roman Architecture in France” on Sunday, March 6, at the Portsmouth Free Library, from 2 - 4 p.m.

Matthieu Delafoy, Commander in the French Navy and student at the Naval War College, will discuss the Romans’ lasting legacy of amphitheaters, aqueducts, temples, forums, arches and baths in France. France, known as Gaul at the time, was part of the Roman Empire from 58 BC until the mid-fifth century AD.

The program will be in French. Questions will be in English. The event is free and open to the public. Fluency in French is not required. Native French speakers will help beginners and those whose French has gotten a little rusty.
