A Snowy Returns

(Photos by Bob Weaver) (Photos by Bob Weaver) This impressive juvenile snowy owl was sighted recently along the southern shoreline and in the eastern field of Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, dining on a ring-billed gull. Due to its light markings it is believed to be a male. Local birders observed that the young owl had a radio transmitter affixed to its back. It is unknown which scientific or conservation group is tracking the bird’s movements, but efforts to ascertain that information are underway.
