Lenten Concert for the Jubilee of Mercy On Friday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church, at Spring St. and Memorial Blvd., will host a Lenten program presented by Catholic singer and songwriter Ryan Tremblay. The theme of the presentation and concert will be the Year of Mercy. The event is free and all are invited to attend. For more information, contact the church office at 401-847-0475.

Lenten Quiet Day at St. John’s All are welcome to attend a Lenten Quiet Day at St. John the Evangelist on the corner of Washington and Willow streets on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. For more information, contact the church office at 401-848- 2561.

Discussion Series On Sunday, Feb. 21, at Trinity Church, the Rev. Canon Anne Marie Richards, Rector of Trinity, will present the second in a series of discussions entitled “Walking with Giants – Meeting Spiritual Teachers.” The program will be held in Honyman Hall from 9-9:45 a.m. Coffee will be served and all are welcome to attend.

Choral Evensong and Benediction St. John the Evangelist, at Washington and Willow streets, will hold a choral Evensong and benediction on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 4 p.m. Evensong, an atmospheric and deeply personal form of worship, appeals to persons of many faiths and has been adopted as an American tradition in many parishes and cathedrals of the Episcopal Church.

Evensong Sunday Evensong will take place at Trinity Church, Queen Anne Square, on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 4 p.m. Consisting of hymns, choral music and readings, it is an opportunity for rest and meditation before the start of a busy week.

Lenten Speaker Series St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth, has discussions on end-of-life decisions on Wednesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. through March 16. The next session will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 24, and will focus on making care decisions. Topics include end-of-life directives, durable powers of attorney, and other essentials. Wednesday Night Lenten Series On Wednesdays through March 23, from 6:45-8:15 p.m., Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St., will hold the Wednesday Night Lenten Series “Living as People of Faith.” Each evening will begin with a soup supper and will include presentations on prayer, world religions, meditation and yoga. The series is open to all and continues on Wednesday, Feb. 24. Pre-registration is recommended. Trinity Lenten Speakers Series On Wednesdays through March 16, Trinity Church will continue its speakers series on integrity. The second lecture, on Feb. 24, will be presented by Orla Brandos, the chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at Newport Hospital and Pamela J. McLaughlin, the director of patient experience at Newport Hospital. The lecture and discussion will be on integrity in health care and will take place at Honyman Hall on Queen Anne Square. Light refreshments will be served at 7 p.m. and the lecture runs from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The series is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the church office at 401-846-0660.
