RECENT DEATHS

Mitchell E. Andrews, 89, of Portsmouth, passed away Jan. 30, 2016 at home. He was the husband of the late Mary Constance (Machado) Andrews. He served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years, and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was also a Federal Protective Officer for 15 years, including as a U.S. Deputy Marshal during the Cuban/Haitian refugee crisis. He leaves behind his children, Mitchell Andrews II of Middletown, Janet Mayer-Walker of Newport, Bernadette Riggi of N.Y., and Martin Andrews of Fla. Calling hours will be Friday, Feb. 5, from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Lucy’s Church, Middletown.

George Botelho, 72, of Portsmouth, passed away peacefully on Feb. 1, 2016 after an extended illness at St. Clare Home in Newport. He leaves behind his wife, Rosemary (Pimentel) Botelho, his three children, and two grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War. Calling hours will be Thursday, Feb. 4, from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Connors Funeral Home, Portsmouth. Irene S. (Lewis) Butler, 81, passed away Jan. 27, 2016 at Grand Islander Center, Middletown. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Butler Jr. and mother of the late Edward J. Butler III. Services were held at Graceway Community Church, Middletown.

Dr. William Michael Connell, 54, of Newport, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 1, 2016 from an apparent heart attack at his home. Calling hours will be Friday, Feb. 5, from 4 - 7 p.m. at O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Augustin Church. Graham S. Fuller, 86, passed away Feb. 1, 2016 at home. He leaves behind his wife, Betty Lou (Lundgren) Fuller, his four children, and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Barnabas Church. Monica K. Magliocco, 83, of Portsmouth, passed away Jan. 31, 2016. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Magliocco Jr. and mother of Joy P. Magliocco. She taught nursing at the Newport Hospital School of Nursing for more than 20 years and continued her nursing career as Professor of Nursing at URI, where she retired in 1997. She leaves behind four children and four grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday, Feb. 4, from 4-8 p.m. at Connors Funeral Home, Portsmouth. Her funeral will be Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Portsmouth. John James Medeiros, 65, of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 31, 2016 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He leaves behind his wife, Rosemary (Silveira) Medeiros, and his children, John J. Medeiros Jr. of Middletown and Elizabeth Medeiros of Swansea. Leah E. Mosley, 61, of Newport, passed away Jan. 24, 2016 at Newport Hospital. She leaves behind her children, Azure Duarte of Newport, Jantiel Mosely of Newport, and Charmaine Duarte of Pawtucket, and three grandchildren.

Anne Hayes O’Connell, 92, of Newport, passed away Jan. 26, 2016 at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late James J. O’Connell Jr. She leaves behind six children, 10 grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
