Models Sought for Rogers Prom Fundraiser

Locals are being given the opportunity to walk the runway in a Maria Del Carmen Mercado-created design, all for a good cause. Mercado, a Providence-based designer whose specialty is “one of a kind” formal and semi-formal dresses, will be at a casting call on Thursday, Feb. 11, from 5 - 8:30 p.m. at the Fifth Element, 111 Broadway. Mercado and the RSVP Groups Modeling Agency will screen candidates (who must be over 21) to wear her designs for the runway portion of “A Night To Remember,” a fundraiser scheduled for late March to benefit the Rogers High School 2016 prom.

The fashion show will also include clothing from local boutiques worn by local “celebrity” models. Other highlights of the fundraiser will include “Decked Out Denim” fashions by Rogers students and duct-tape dresses created by Rogers alum Haley Pires. Appetizers and desserts will be prepared by Rogers culinary students and Blackstone Caterers.

For more information, call Lynne Tungett at Newport This Week, 401- 847-7766 x 105. The event will be held March 24 at the Newport Art Museum.
