Jeans for Teens

As of Jan. 1, 2016 , it is estimated that Newport has 10 homeless students who attend Thompson Middle School and 10 at Rogers High School. These numbers change monthly; over the past year the number has been as low as 17 and as high as 23 combined at the two schools.

In an effort to help, Rogers senior Raven Ferri is holding a “Jeans for Teens” drive, collecting gentlyused jeans. The goal is to collect at least 250 pairs by Jan. 29. Donation boxes will be at Pell School, Thompson, Rogers and the Newport Police Station. She will then deliver the “dropped off denim” to various agencies assisting teens.
