Scout Earns Eagle

Portsmouth Troop 82 presented Boy Scout's highest rank achievement, Eagle Scout, to Adam Carceller on Oct. 30, at an Eagle Court of Honor held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth.

Carceller, 17, is the son of Portsmouth residents Sal and Christine Carceller and is the first in his family to achieve the highest advancement rank in scouting.

To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, he designed and created a Lego Center for the Boys & Girls Club of Newport. During the construction phase, he led a team of volunteers to build the custom-designed eight-person Lego table and then presented the club with the unique Lego table, eight stools, a storage cabinet, hundreds of pounds of Lego bricks, and donated more than $400 towards future purchases for the Lego Center. The new Lego Center has enabled the Boys & Girls Club of Newport to create an actual Lego program for children. Carceller raised funds for the project by holding a garage sale and collecting donations from neighbors, friends and family. Businesses that showed generous support for the project include Parvo's Paint and Riverhead Building Supply, both in Middletown, the Newport Walmart and the Lego Store, Braintree, Mass.
