For What It’s Worth

A granddaughter recently brought in a needlepoint Xmas stocking stating that it was found in her grandmothers home and she believed that it was made when her granny was a young girl.

As sweet as the notion was, I remember Christmas Tree Shop selling duplicate stockings about 20 years ago and this "made in China" memento has nominal value today. While examining the item I found a note inside that said “For Sarah,” who happened to be the visitor, so though modestly valued the memento suddenly gained a sweet memory of childhood.— Federico Santi, partner, Drawing Room Antiques, 401-841-5060.
