Wreaths to Help Lucy's Hearth

Volunteers Mary Beth Dolohanty and Katie Ahearne admire one of the many wreaths that have been made in preparation for the 15th annual Lucy’s Hearth Designer Wreath and Gourmet Bake Sale to be held Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. to noon, on the ground floor of the Easton’s Beach rotunda. From the simple to the grand, there will be wreaths for every door and every decorating style. The gourmet bake sale, said Ahearne, will include “everything imaginable—cookies, cakes, brownies,” some amazing pickles, and “incredible dog cookies.” Based on previous years the event is expected to bring in around $20,000 to support the programs and services of Lucy’s Hearth in Middletown, which is Aquidneck Island’s only shelter for women and children, and which will be moving to a more spacious updated facility at 19 Valley Road, the former location of Child and Family Services.
