Storm Drain Project

(Photo by Jack Kelly) (Photo by Jack Kelly) Gaudet Middle School sixth-grade students, (L to R) Yuhan Zhang, Kaleigh de Meideros, and Walker McCauley prepare a placard with strong epoxy for placement on a curb over a storm drain on school property. Their teacher, Heidi Gauch, recently received a grant through Save The Bay to be used for environmental education in the protection of watersheds and Narragansett Bay. The colored round placards will help inform and educate future generations of students to the effects that pollutants have on Narragansett Bay.

The storm drain markings project is one of many hands-on projects designed to give students tools and the motivation to continue education in the sciences, engineering, environment and other related fields.
