RECENT DEATHS

Thomas J. Eagan, 88, of Portsmouth, passed away Oct. 22, 2015 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in World War II. He leaves behind his wife, June Conley Eagan, three daughters, three sons, 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was the husband of the late Jeananne (Nolan) Eagan, and father of the late Nancy Regine.Donations in his memory may be made to St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.

William S. Francis, 93, of Middletown, passed away Oct. 25, 2015 at Newport Hospital. He was the husband of the late Gwendolyn M. James. During World War II, he served with the Conservation Corps of Engineers. He leaves behind his children, Gwendolyn Ruggeri of Newport and William Francis, Jr. of Mass. and a stepdaughter, Beverly Maitland of Newport, as well as seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct. 29, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home. His funeral will be Friday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Thomas S. Heald, 80, of Newport, passed away Oct. 23, 2015 at Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown. He was the husband of the late Mary Gertrude (Sardinha) Heald, former husband of Joan Heald and husband of Patricia Galuska of Newport. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in the Korean War. He leaves behind his children, Theresa Soares (Andrew) of Portsmouth, Michael Weed, Mary Robinson (Steve) of Middletown, Debbie Burgess of Virginia, Karen Harrington (Bill) of Middletown, Beverly Weed of Newport, Stacy Santos of Portsmouth, and his daughter-in-law Teresa Paiva-Weed of Newport. He was the father of the late Mark Weed. All services are private. Donations in his memory may be made to Forest Farm Health Care Center- Activity Fund, 201 Forest Ave., Middletown, RI 02842.

Mary Lewis-Spampinato, 78, of Florida, formerly of Newport, passed away Oct. 23, 2015 at Suncoast Hospice Center, Fla. She leaves behind her husband, Joseph V. Spampinato, his three children, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be Thursday, Oct. 27, at 10 a.m. in St. Spyridon Church, Thames Street, Newport. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Stefanos Church, 3600 76th St., St. Petersburg, FL 33710.

Robert A. Lundsten, 86, of Portsmouth, passed away Oct. 27, 2015 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of the late Alice Margaret (Johnsen) Lundsten. He leaves behind his three daughters, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct. 29, from 1 -2 p.m. at the Connors Funeral Home, Portsmouth, followed by his service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Blanche Norma Stoddard, 91, of Newport, passed away Oct. 22, 2015 at West View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, West Warwick. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.

Nathan Ryan Traibman, 34, of Portsmouth, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 23, 2015. He leaves behind his mother, Terry Traibman, of Portsmouth, and his father and step-mother, Lee and Sandra Traibman, of Warren. Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct. 29, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Connors Funeral Home, Portsmouth. A memorial mass wil be held Friday, Oct. 30, at 5 p.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Donations may be made in his name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 2350 Post Road, Suite 201, Warwick, RI 02886.
