Touro Pizza Party

An open house and “Pizza-inthe Hut” Sukkah Party will be held Sunday, Oct. 4, from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Touro Synagogue. Music by the Touro Band will add to the festivities. Tours of the synagogue and visitors center will be given.

Public Forum on Suicide

Samaritans of Rhode Island Executive Director Denise Panichas will lead a public forum to answer questions about suicide and the resources the Samaritans provide to Rhode Island’s coastal communities. Everyone is invited to attend on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m.- noon at Central Baptist Church, 99 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. 100 Questions about Universal Unitarianism

On Sunday, Oct. 4, at 11:30 a.m., Channing Church offers an informal opportunity to learn about such things as Channing’s connection to its church and how to join the congregation. Zen Meditation

Every Monday from 7-8:30 p.m., Channing Church offers Zen mediation in the Parish Hall at 135 Pelham St. This practice teaches how to clear the mind, understand our true selves and live with clarity and compassion. Kennedy Wedding Remembrance

“Return to Camelot” offers a 45-minute remembrance on Tuesday, Oct. 6, of the Sept. 12, 1953 Kennedy wedding that took place in St. Mary’s Church, 12 William St. Vintage film clips, photographs and recollections of the wedding day by Jackie’s late stepbrother will be featured. Musical selections from the wedding and reception will be performed at the church. The remembrance will take place at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be obtained by calling 401-847-0475 or visiting returntocamelot.org.

Jamestown Community Band Performs

On Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 7-9 p.m., the Jamestown Community Band will perform at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 87 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. For more information, call the church office at 401-423-1762.

Trinity Church Pumpkin Patch

The Trinity Church Pumpkin Patch is held on the Queen Anne Square lawn. More than 1,000 pumpkins will be delivered on Friday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m. and volunteers are needed to unload them. Crafters are invited to make fall-themed items. Baked treats are needed for sale on the weekends, and musicians are invited to participate Saturdays and Sundays. Funds raised will support Trinity and its outreach partners. Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser

The Portsmouth United Methodist Church will hold its annual Pumpkin Patch on Sunday, Oct. 11. It will be open daily from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. at 2732 East Main Road. Proceeds support the church’s youth mission projects. For more information, call the church office at 401-683-4005.

Festa Italiana Event at St. Joseph’s

“An Afternoon of Arias and Italian Melodies” will be held Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2:30 p.m., at St. Joseph’s Church at 5 Mann Ave. At 1:30 p.m., the doors will open and there will be a silent auction and light refreshments. The concert will feature soprano Stephanie Tierno and organist and pianist Denis Tetrault. Tickets are $35. For advance sales, call 401-683-4378 or 401-480-5397. Proceeds will benefit the Senator John O. Pastore Cultural Scholarship, which provides area high school students the opportunity to visit Newport’s sister city, Imperia, Italy.

National Day of Prayer Event

The Newport County National Day of Prayer Committee will hold “Metanoia: A Night of Prayer and Repentance" on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 6:30 p.m. Held at Bliss Four Corners Congregational Church, 1264 Stafford Rd., Tiverton, the event will offer Scripture readings from the Old and New Testaments, congregational singing of hymns, and prayers offered from a local minister. The Newport County National Day of Prayer Committee is a group that is based on Judeo-Christian principles.

‘Hereford Variations’ Organ Recital

St. John the Evangelist Church will offer an organ recital on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 4 p.m., by composer Peter Berton, also the choirmaster at St. John’s. Members of the Choir School of Newport County will also sing. Video projection of the stained glass windows from the Hereford Cathedral, in Hereford, England will accompany the concert.
