Yacht Hop a Success for Boys & Girls Club

Adam Zaff and Tiana Brady Adam Zaff and Tiana Brady The second annual Newport Yacht Rendezvous an event benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County, was a resounding success, according to event co-chairs Kim Herrlinger, Stacie Mills, Carol O’Malley and Patti Rakolta-Keith. With the efforts of their committee, 300 guests dined, danced, and raised more than $200,000 in support of the club’s programs and services and gave a special boost to its kitchen renovations.

The Rendezvous held at the Newport Shipyard featured seven magnificent yachts for the guests to “hop” aboard. Gloria, a 26-foot schooner, the only hop yacht less than 100 feet, was provided by Pete Townshend, lead guitarist and songwriter for The Who. The largest yacht at 171 feet, Gravitas, was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Phil Restino.

For nearly 60 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County has provided quality programming and services to all youth in the community. It provides services to more than 3,200 youth annually and is part of a nationwide network of more than 4,000 Boys & Girls Clubs.
