For What It’s Worth

In the Aug. 6 edition, I misstated the potential value of a mobile attributed to Alexander Calder. Instead of $5,000 to $6,000, I meant to state $50,000 to $60,000! At my recommendation, a regional auction gallery was selected for the five Calders that were recently revealed; the combined auction estimate for the collection is $200,000 to $300,000. Who knows “what lurks in the hearts” of Newport homes. I will post in this column in January the results of the auction of these pieces.
