Feds Feed Families

Naval Station Newport is participating in the 2015 Feds Feed Families campaign to collect non-perishable food donations to support local food banks. Drop-off locations are located at the Commissary, NEX, Building 690, and Chapel of Hope. The project started earlier this month and will continue until Oct. 2. Youth Auditions

Children entering grades 1-12 are invited to audition on Monday, Aug. 10, for a special performance of Red Riding Hood produced by the Missoula Children’s Theatre.

Auditions, rehearsals and the performance will be held at the Coasters Harbor Island Conference Center, Building 684. Rehearsals will begin immediately after auditions for those selected to be cast members. If selected, youth must have a clear schedule for the entire week prior to the performance on Aug. 14. Six Flags Day

Six Flags New England is hosting a special priced Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, Aug. 8. An all-day admission of $42 to Six Flags and the Hurricane Harbor Water Park will also include free parking and lunch. NAPS Sponsors Needed

The Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) at Naval Station Newport is seeking volunteers to sponsor Midshipman Candidates for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Sponsors are asked to extend invitations to community and/or family activities or functions, or open their homes to students for a home-cooked meal, a place to study, or just for watching television, and provide transportation.

The sponsor program will be kicked off with Meet Your Sponsor night in late August or early September.
