RECENT DEATHS

Frances G. (Cope) Banks, 93, of Newport, passed away July 14, 2015 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late George H. Banks. She leaves behind her son and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. Donations in her name may be made to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.

Robert Lawton Bryant, 64, of Portsmouth, passed away July 15, 2015. He leaves behind his wife, Patricia (Skipper) Bryant, and his son, Christopher M. Skipper. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.

Captain William McBrayer Calhoun, USN (Ret.), 69, passed away July 17, 2015. He leaves behind his wife, Jane, four children, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Newport, with viewing hours beginning at 11 a.m. An inurnment ceremony will be held at the U.S. Naval Academy at a later date. John Ronald Goehlich, 80, of Middletown, passed away July 12, 2015. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Shirley Ellen Moses, 77, of Newport, passed away July 17, 2015 at South County Nursing & Rehab. She was the wife of the late Louis Moses. She leaves behind four children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Donations in her memory may be made to Ocean State Nursing Services, 3923 Mendon Road, Cumberland, RI 02864.

William H. Sullivan Jr., 83, of Newport, passed away July 16, 2015 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Judith (Giovanniello) Sullivan. He served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. Donations in his memory may be made to the Newport Fire Department Rescue Fund, 21 West Marlborough St., Newport, RI 02840.

Mary Elizabeth (Silva) Thomson, 87, of Middletown, passed away July 16, 2015 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport. She leaves behind her husband, David S. Thomson, two sons, and six grandchildren. She served as an officer in the U.S. Navy WAVES during the Korean conflict. She was buried with Military Honors. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, RI Chapter, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.

Eleanor G. (Jenkins) Weston, 90, of Middletown, passed away July 13, 2015 at home. She was the wife of the late Ernest Weston. Funeral services will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society of Rhode Island, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
