Rear Adm. P. Gardner Howe III, president, U.S. Naval War College, reenlists Senior Chief Culinary Specialist Chris Valdez and Chief Yeoman Kat Kurtz onboard the NWC command cutter while underway in Narragansett Bay.

The NWC command cutter was built by the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in February 1957, is 50 feet in length with a beam of 13.5 feet, and is made of oak with double-planked Alaskan cedar sides and teak decks. She weighs 20 tons, has a draft of 4.5 feet and has a top speed of 12.5 knots. (U.S. Navy photo by James E. Foehl)
