A Thank You from Hasbro Children’s Hospital

To the Editor:

For families across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, Hasbro Children’s Hospital is a critically important resource for our region—one that cares for the vast majority of ill and injured children in our community. And it is this same community that makes much of our work possible.

Southern New Englanders love Dunkin’ Donuts, especially their iced coffee. And that love, when coupled with a caring and compassionate corporate partner, has translated into substantial donations to our hospital. Each May for the past five years, generous Dunkin’ franchisees, representing hundreds of locations in our area, provide an opportunity for the community to give to Hasbro Children’s Hospital through Iced Coffee Day by donating $1 from the sale of each iced coffee. This year, Iced Coffee Day raised $160,000, bringing the total to more than $758,000 since its inception. For this, we are beyond grateful.

Funds raised through Iced Coffee Day have enabled us to establish the “4-Safety” program, which takes the expertise of Hasbro Children’s Hospital into the community to educate families about reducing their risk of injury and living healthier, safer lives. Although injuries can frequently be prevented, they are still the most common cause of death for children, adolescents and young adults.

As we continue to focus our efforts on supporting and improving the health and well-being of those we care for—both within our hospital and beyond its walls—we extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners at Dunkin’ Donuts and to the more than 100,000 of you that support Iced Coffee Day.
