RECENT DEATHS

Hugh D. “Yusha” Auchincloss III, 87, passed away June 13, 2015 at his home on Hammersmith Farm, summer home of President John F. Kennedy. He was the son of Hugh D. Auchincloss Jr., a stockbroker who married Janet Lee Bouvier in 1942. Bouvier’s daughter, Jacqueline Lee Bouvier, became Auchincloss’ stepsister and married John F. Kennedy. They remained friends until her death in 1994. He was a graduate of Yale University, a Middle East diplomat, a New York City management consultant and he served with the U.S. delegation to the United Nations. A service will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Church.

Dolores Patricia (Cordeiro) Cinotti, 81, of Portsmouth, passed away June 9, 2015 at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late Victor Anthony Cinotti. She leaves behind three children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donations in her memory may be made to the Portsmouth Music Boosters, P.O. Box 21, Portsmouth, RI 02871.

Alice M. (Caron) Loftus, 82, of Newport, passed away June 10, 2015. She was the wife of the late George W. Loftus and mother of five, grandmother of eleven, and great-grandmother of nine. Donations in her memory may be made to the Newport Firefighter Pension Association, 21 West Marlborough St., Newport, RI 02840.

Virginia Sciortino MacMulkin, 95, of Newport, passed away June 11, 2015 at the Grand Islander. She was the wife of the late Donald MacMulkin. She leaves behind her daughter, Patricia Carrubba (Richard), two granddaughters, and a great-granddaughter. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org.

Geraldine Ann (Craig) Hamilton Smith, 66, of Portsmouth, passed away June 8, 2015 at Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown. She was the wife of William S. Hamilton-Smith. She leaves behind two sons and four grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Portsmouth Rescue Wagon Fund, 2300 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.

Edith G. Streeter, 96, of Newport, passed away June 6, 2015 at St. Clare Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Lawrence E. Streeter. During World War II she worked at the Torpedo Station, Goat Island. She leaves behind her son, five grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren and 11 great-greatgrandchildren. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
