Bloomsday in Newport

Bloomsday is inspired by the novel, “Ulysses” written by Irish writer James Joyce which chronicles the events of one day, June 16, 1904, in the life of Leopold Bloom. Bloomsday events happen all over the world in various ways; whether reading selected excerpts or marathon readings of the entire book. The Newport Celtic Players will perform the First Annual Bloomsday in Newport on Tuesday, June 16 at the Edward King House. Actors include Lindy Nettleton, Barbara Finelli, Rob Reimer, Michael Healy, Seamus Mc Connell, Tony Gutierrez, and Clive Anderson. Traditional Irish session musicians will also add to the event’s festivities. The performance is from 7 – 8:15 p.m. A $10 donation is suggested. For more information, call 401-523-5712.
