Highest Garden Honor to Dodo Hamilton

Dorrance H. “Dodo” Hamilton, of Newport and Philadelphia, was presented the Garden Club of America’s Medal of Honor, one of the highest honors bestowed annually.

Hamilton’s most ambitious effort in Newport was restoring the 45-acre Swiss Village Farm in 2002. She is presently recreating Frederick Law Olmsted Jr.’s iconic Blue Garden, and she helped establish the Newport Flower Show 20 years ago and serves as its chairman emeritus.

Hamilton, 86, is a granddaughter of Dr. John T. Dorrance, who created the process for condensing soup and purchased the Campbell Soup Company from his uncle in 1914.
