For What It’s Worth

The “Elephant in the Room” is the tusk! Recently there has been much confusing information regarding the re-sale of elephant ivory by dealers and auction houses. Federal and state regulations are somewhat complex. Generally if the item was made after 1976, you can forget about selling it! That ivory chess set you purchased new a few years ago today really can’t be sold. Laws appear to be getting more restrictive and it will be interesting to see how dealers and museums adapt to new regulations.
