Charles F. W. Bowman Jr., 78, of Newport, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2015 at the Village House Rehabilitation Center, Newport. He retired after 28 years in the U.S. Marines as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. Donations in his memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.

Marcelle Juliette (Spooner) Casavant, 95, of Daytona Beach, Fla., formerly of Newport, passed away May 16, 2015 at home. She was the wife of the late Raymond A. Casavant. She leaves a son, Andrew Casavant (Cindy) of Fla. and a daughter, Pamela Venditouli of Newport, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 21, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be May 22 at 9 a.m. at St. Lucy's Church, Middletown.

Shirley T. (Mooney) Dunn, 79, of Middletown, passed away May 13, 2015 at Heatherwood Nursing Center, Newport. She leaves behind five children. A funeral service will be held Monday, May 25, at 9 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lucy's Church, Middletown. Donations in her memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.

Jenifer Anne Curtis Foley, 57, of Newport, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2015 at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of Gerald F. (Joe) Foley Jr. She leaves behind her son, Jeffrey Curtis (Cheryl) of Mass., her daughter, Jenifer Angeles (Reginald) of San Diego and six grandchildren. Vernon L. Gorton Jr., 59, of Portsmouth, passed away May 17, 2015 after a long illness at Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Beverly (Correia) Gorton. He leaves behind his two children, Samuel and Maggie Gorton of Portsmouth. He was Portsmouth Town Solicitor for many years and also served as Middletown solicitor. Calling hours will be Friday, May 22, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Connors Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be May 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Barnabas Church, Portsmouth.

Lucille Ann (Laflamme) Gullison, 65, of Middletown, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of Frank Gullison. She leaves behind her two sons and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be private.

Mary Angela (Kane) Harrington, 97, of Portsmouth, passed away May 12, 2015 at Atria Aquidneck Place, Portsmouth. She was the wife of the late John Harrington. She leaves behind her five children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Elmer A. Reynolds Sr., 87, of Newport, passed away May 15, 2015 at Newport Hospital. He was the husband of the late Marion Etta (Snyder) Reynolds. He leaves behind his children William Reynolds (Beverly) and Elmer Reynolds Jr. (Lynn) of Middletown, daughter-in-law Loreen Reynolds of Bristol, Tina Murphy-Reynolds. (James McLoughlin) of Jamestown, and Douglas Reynolds of Fla., six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Saturday, May 23, from 9 - 10 a.m., with a funeral service at 10 a.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home. Richard Michael Vars, 62, of Portsmouth, passed away May 14, 2015 after a long battle with melanoma. He was the husband of Claudia (Carlson) Vars. He was the Director of Bands in the Middletown Schools and with other R.I. bands for 30 years. A Dedication and Celebration of Life will be held at East Providence High School auditorium on Saturday, May 30, at 1 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the Rhode Island College Foundation, Richard M.
