Men Who Make a Difference


Adam Townsend and Steve Cardi Adam Townsend and Steve Cardi The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) held its annual Men Who Make a Difference Gala on May 1 at Hotel Viking. Honored that evening were 20 men from across Rhode Island who have made a personal commitment to make our community a better place for all. The event was also attended by U. S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Rep., David Cicilline.

The gala hosted 250 guests and raised over $32,000 to support the work of the Women’s Resource Center, which provides comprehensive services to women, children, men and families affected by domestic violence. The WRC also offers an emergency shelter, transitional apartments, a 24-hour hotline, court advocacy, counseling, children’s programs, youth prevention education, and more. The Women’s Resource Center is one of six member agencies of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
