It was off to the races at the Edward King House Senior Center as they celebrated the opening of the spring season with their second annual “Run for the Roses” spring gala on May 2.

Festivities included race time activities, sipping mint juleps while cheering on favorite horses, fine dining by Sardella’s Restaurant, live music by the Jazz Strollers, and dancing. Gents wore seersucker suits and the ladies donned fetching hats, with Bobbi Kosegarten winning the ladies' hat contest.

The event was chaired by Newport’s own Barbara Peters and Anthony Regine of Middletown and raised more than $18,000 for Edward King House Senior Center programming.
