Memory Lane

To the Editor:

After I read the article on the 2nd Story Theatre, it took me back. However, I do have a correction. When listing the defunct little Newport theaters, Eileen Warburton included "the Children's Theatre." I'm pleased and proud to say that Newport Children's Theatre is still alive and well and better than ever, 35 years after Linda Lawrence Franklin and others formed it from the dust of Newport Player's Guild in 1980. Our season includes three mainstage shows each year, classes for all age groups, and wonderful summer workshops taught by professionals from New York and Hollywood. We open our spring musical, "Hello, Dolly!" at Portsmouth High School this weekend, and I couldn't be prouder of our young actors, dedicated staff and hardworking board of directors.
