Mother’s Day Music

The Choristers of the Newport County Choir School will sing at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Spring Street, at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. Masses on Sunday, May 10, Mother’s Day. They will perform a wide range of Marian music, under the direction of Peter Berton and Cody Mead.

Ascension Prelude Music

St. Mary’s Catholic Church will hold a Vigil Mass for the Feast of the Ascension, a Holy Day of Obligation, on Wednesday, May 13, at 5 p.m. In honor of the event, there will be a one half-hour prelude recital of festive organ music. All are invited to come at 4:30 p.m.

Mother’s Day at UCC

The United Congregational Church, 524 Valley Road, Middletown, invites women to wear festive, smart hats in honor of their mothers on Mother's Day at the 10 a.m. service.

Plant Swap

The WEB group (Women Empowered and Blessed) at United Congregational Church will hold a perennial and plant swap on Sunday, May 10. It’s time to divide those daylilies, hostas and irises, so why not share them Mother's Day? On Friday, May 8, all are welcome to drop off divided perennials, "volunteers" from last year's garden, houseplants, herbs, or annuals started from seeds to share. Gardening books are also welcome. Bring as many as you want and take home whatever you would like. Label the plants and deliver them to Farnum Hall, 524 Valley Road, Middletown. For more information, call 401-849-5444.

Men’s Breakfast

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth will hold a men's breakfast and Bible study on Saturday, May 9, at 8:30 a.m. Come to the Adult Education Room for a light breakfast, good fellowship, and a deepening of faith. Newcomers welcome. Contact pwestrom@neit.edu for more information.

Insight Support

Insight, a nonprofit organization that helps people living with vision loss learn how to be more independent, hosts a monthly educational group at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 12 Marlborough St., on the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 12, in the church hall at 11 a.m. and is open to anyone living with a visual impairment, as well as family members and friends. Five Year Celebration

Trinity Church will celebrate five years since the arrival of Rector Anne Marie Richards with a gathering of food, fellowship and the good news of the church community on Sunday, May 17, following the 10 a.m. service. For more information, call 401-846-0660.

Food Pantries Need Help

Typically food pantry donations drop at this time of year but demands do not. Consider making a donation of food or money to the MLK and Salvation Army food pantries to assist neighbors in need. Call the MLK at 401-846-4828 x103 or the Salvation Army at 401-846-3234.
