Swing was an Astounding Success

A sell-out crowd of over 300 guests packed the Atlantic Beach Club and Pavilion on April 9 to celebrate the 19th annual Swing into Spring fundraiser benefiting the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. The evening was the most successful to date, netting over $110,000 to support the center’s core programs.

Event chair Zulekha Ludwig welcomed guests and described the center's impact in Newport County, noting that less than two percent of the center’s annual budget comes from government funding. Board of Trustees President David G. Howe thanked the attendees stating, “We are deeply grateful to our generous sponsors and donors and dedicated team of staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to create a fabulous event.”

Executive Director Marilyn Warren continued, “The funds raised will help nearly 3,000 people in Newport County who look to the MLK for help. We're deeply grateful to our supporters who stand with us and sustain programs that make a critical difference for children, families and seniors.”
