Putin Talk

Brig. General Peter Zwack will discuss his three-year assignment at the American Embassy in Moscow and his view of Putin and the current Russian government at the Redwood Library’s Life of the Mind Salon Series on Wednesday, May 6 from 6 – 8 p.m. Limited seating, reservations required, many programs fill to capacity. Spouse Night Out

Eight Bells

The Naval War College Museum’s Eight Bells lecture series will present Vice Adm. Antonio Silva Ribeiro, Portuguese Navy (Ret.), discussing his book, “A Study on the Work of Father Fernando Oliveira,” on Thursday, April 30, at noon.

Born in 1507, Fernando Oliveira was a Dominican priest who had a love for the sea and took the opportunity to spend time on ships where he honed his nautical skills.

America’s Kids Pentathlon

The annual America’s Kids Pentathlon will be held at the John H. Chafee Fitness Center on Friday, May 8, 3-5:30 p.m. The event is open to children of active duty personnel, retirees, reservists, and DoD employees. Kids (ages 5-13) can compete in five different events including running, basketball shoot out, obstacle course, and two other fitness challenges. Refreshments will be provided.
