Broadway Transformation

With state and city funding in place, the long-anticipated Broadway Streetscape Project is scheduled to begin moving forward in earnest by April. The $6.7 million improvement effort on one of the main thoroughfares into Newport is expected to take 18 months to complete. The impending roadwork means that Broadway business owners will contend with noise, dust, and disruptions for a third consecutive summer, but city leaders are promising to accommodate businesses as much as possible during the construction.
