The St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee designs a button each year honoring the Grand Marshal. Marshal Brian Arnold was thrilled with the artwork. “I was absolutely taken aback when I saw this because it was spectacular and very meaningful to me. The saw blade represents my 42 years in the construction business. The lighthouse is the Goat Island lighthouse that represents my home and family, because I’ve looked at that building just about every day of my life. There have been a few foggy nights when that lighthouse has guided me home. The beams of light in Irish colors emanating from the lighthouse signify my family and my Irish heritage here in Newport.” The St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee designs a button each year honoring the Grand Marshal.
