Boot Camp Breakfast

The Disabled Americans Veterans (DAV) invites all veterans, active duty and spouses to the annual Boot Camp Breakfast on Saturday, March 7, at VFW Post 4487, 52 Underwood Lane (off Coddington Highway), in Middletown, beginning at 8:15 a.m.

Service officers from the Veterans Administration and DAV will discuss benefits, entitlements and other information. Forms and submission guidelines will be available. Attendees do not need to be DAV members. Children are not invited to the event. The full breakfast and information session costs $5. SNA Bowling Tournament

The Surface Navy Association Winter Bowling Tournament will take place on Thursday, March 5. Teams of four, both military and civilian personnel, are welcome. This is a family friendly event. Signups begin at 5 p.m., and the first round starts at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per bowler and includes shoes, two games and refreshments, with proceeds benefiting local charities. Spouse Outing

The next Military Spouses of Newport Night Out will be Thursday, Feb. 26, at Brix Restaurant, 909 East Main Road, Middletown. Join military friends at 6:30 p.m. for a no-host evening of fun and good food. Sign up at milspousenewport.org.

Spouse Club Scholarships

Every year, the Military Spouses of Newport offers scholarships for graduating high school students residing in the greater Newport area who are dependents of active duty, retired, or deceased military personnel. They also offer a scholarship for spouses in postsecondary education, certification, or professional programs. Visit milspousenewport.org for eligibility criteria and application forms. Choristers in Concert

The Newport Navy Choristers, under the direction of JoAnn Loewenthal, will present “Music for a Sunday Afternoon” on Sunday, March 8 at 4 p.m. at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. The concert begins at 4 p.m. and will benefit the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society and the Choristers.

Comedy at O’Club

The Winter Comedy Series continues Wednesday, Feb. 25, Topside at the Officers’ Club at 7 p.m. with Jim Colliton. The Boston-based comedian’s humor often centers on living in suburbia with his wife and three children. The show is free and open to all hands with base access, but the series is geared towards adults and is not family friendly. For more information, call 401-841-1442.

TRICARE Online (TOL) provides eligible beneficiaries the ability to securely and conveniently schedule appointments and refill prescriptions for themselves and family members at Naval Health Clinic New England. Patients can also view, download, and share personal health data on medications, allergies, encounters, problem lists, radiology results, lab results, vital signs and immunizations. Drink and Dabble

The Officers’ Club will hold two sessions of Drink and Dabble on Saturday, Feb. 28. The first event is for youngsters ages 8 and up and runs 1-3 p.m. The children can enjoy juice and a taco bar while creating a masterpiece to take home. Cost is $30.

The adult class will run 4-7 p.m. and guests will have complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres while painting. Admission is $40. To purchase tickets or for more information, call the O’ Club at 401-841- 1442.

Eight Bells Lectures Online

The Naval War College Museum’s popular Eight Bells Lecture series is now available for viewing on YouTube. The lectures are presented individually and most of the series from the past year is online.
