Facebook comments regarding last week's editorial:

. It's time to make changes. As a resident and parent I’ve had enough. –MD

. If any long-time residents remember, it used to step off at 2 p.m. The move to noon was to help curb the drinking. Whether bars are closed or not, people will drink. The parade committee has taken steps every year to help make the parade more family friendly. So, it’s not the parade that needs to be reined in as your title suggests. It’s the college age kids who are the problem. –KO

. The parade committee has gone out of the way to make this a family event. To be able to serve or sell at 7 a.m. is just way too early! The committee has volunteers to pick up the trash and put out portable potties. The best is their family friendly event after the parade. Yes, the bars and restaurants make money. I have to say the scariest part of the parade (and there are a few more) is when you turn from America's Cup to Thames Street; certain sections aren't that much fun! And yes, the majority are college students, but not all! –KC
