Newport Police Log

During the period from Monday, Jan. 26 through Sunday, Feb. 1, the Newport Police Department responded to 530 calls. Of those, 115 were motor vehicle related; there were 81 motor vehicle violations issued and 34 accident reports.

The police also responded to 9 noise complaints, 11 animal complaints, 45 home/business alarm calls, 10 private tows, 1 suicide call and 10 incidents of vandalism. They transported 2 prisoners, escorted 1 funeral, had 1 bicycle violation and 3 school security checks.

They recorded 2 instances of assisting other police departments and 4 instances of assisting other agencies. In addition, 21 arrests were made for the following violations:

-3 arrests were made for disorderly conduct.

-2 arrests were made for possession of drugs with the intent to
manufacture or deliver.
-2 arrests were made for willful
-2 arrests were made for vandalism.

-2 arrests were made for driving with a suspended or revoked
-1 arrest was made for disorderly
-1 arrest was made for simple
-1 arrest was made for outstanding bench warrants.
-1 arrest was made for domestic
felony assault.
-1 arrest was made for DUI.
-1 arrest was made for violating
a no contact order.
-1 arrest was made for underage
-1 arrest was made for domestic
simple assault.
