RECENT DEATHS

Charles M. Dwyer, 67, of Newport, passed away Jan. 20, 2015. He was the husband of Kathleen Dwyer. He also leaves behind his son and a granddaughter. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association RI Chapter, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.

Samuel “Sonny” Friedman, 93, of Portsmouth, passed away Jan. 19, 2015 at Heatherwood Nursing Facility. He was the husband of Phyllis-Ann Friedman. He also leaves behind two sons. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Alexandria Joan (Piermont) Ouellette, 79, of Portsmouth, passed away Jan. 21, 2015 at St. Elizabeth’s Manor in Bristol. She was the wife of Charles W. Ouellette. She leaves behind two sons and four grandchildren. Funeral services are private. Donations in her memory may be made to the Portsmouth Senior Citizens Center, 110 Bristol Ferry Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.

Dorothy M. (Rogers) Pichette, 84, of Portsmouth, passed away Jan. 23, 2015 at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol. She was the wife of the late Ovila J. Pichette Jr. She leaves her daughter, Ann Pichette of Illinois. Her funeral will be held at a later date.

Nancy Knowles Parker, 85, cofounder of Greenvale Vineyards in Portsmouth and publisher of the New England Wine Gazette, passed away Jan. 10, 2015 in Boston, Mass. She was the wife of the late Cortlandt Parker. They planted a vineyard in 1980 at Greenvale, Mr. Parker’s family farm dating back to 1860, and followed with the founding of the winery in 1992. The Parkers earlier established a weekly newspaper chain in New Jersey that covers 55 towns. She leaves behind four children and 12 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Portsmouth.

Ruth C. (Sasse) Sullivan, 99, of Newport, passed away Jan. 25, 2015 at John Clarke Nursing Center, Middletown. She was the wife of the late James J. Sullivan. She leaves behind her daughter, Susan E. Reise of Newport, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her daughter-inlaw, Nancy H. Sullivan. Ruth was the mother of the late Robert J. Sullivan. Services will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to the John Clarke Nursing Center Activity Fund, 600 Valley Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
