RECENT DEATHS

Pamela Noetzel Andrews, 51, of Newport, passed away after a brief illness and courageous battle with cancer at St. Anne’s Hospital, Fall River, Mass. She leaves behind her three daughters, Cristalee Andrews of Bristol, Jessica Andrews of Fall River, Mass., and Samantha Silvia of Portsmouth. Donations in her memory may be made to the Hudner Oncology Center, 795 Middle St., Fall River, MA 02721.

Charlotte Katzman Bunkin, 94, of Middletown, passed away Dec. 18, 2014. She was a longtime companion to the late Armand Minkin. Arrangements are by the Chevra Kadisha Association of Newport County.

Dr. Anthony T. Carrellas, 91, of Newport, passed away Dec. 19, 2014 at Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown. He was the husband of the late Mary Louise (Stanton) Carrellas. Affectionately known as “Dr. Bowtie,” he served young patients from all over Aquidneck Island for 37 years. He also served as the medical staff president for Newport Hospital from 1972-1974 and as the Middletown school physician for almost 20 years. He is survived by his children, Dr. Robert A. Carrellas of Middletown, David Carrellas of Newport, Ann Carrellas of Ann Arbor, Mich., Dr. Joan Carrellas of Santa Fe, N.M. and Patricia G. Carrellas of Portsmouth, and his 11 grandchildren. Calling hours will be Monday, Dec. 29, from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home. His funeral will be Dec. 30 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Jesus Saviour Church, Newport. Karen Chiumento, 56, of Portsmouth, passed away Dec. 19, 2014 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. She was the wife of Paul Chiumento. She also leaves behind her daughter, Katie Chiumento, of Portsmouth. Donations in her memory may be made to OceanPointe Christian Church, Middletown.

Eilish (Cawley) Heaney, 52, of Newport, passed away Dec. 16, 2014 surrounded by family at Newport Hospital. Born in Boyle Co., Roscommon Ireland on April 11, 1962, she was the daughter of John and Lily (Golden) Cawley. Eilish worked in hospitality in Newport before opening her own store, The Shop on Broadway, in 2002. She always valued family, friends and hard work. She is survived by her daughters Maeve and Fiona; two sisters, Nualah of Babylon, N.Y. and Mary of Maynooth Co. Kildare; and her brother Seamus of England. She was the former wife of Patrick Heaney of Newport, R.I. She leaves several aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as her godsons Ryan Carroll and Brendan Heaney. She will be long remembered and sadly missed by all. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Dec. 20 at Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway. Burial will take place in Dromore West Co. Sligo, Ireland. Helen L. (Wetmore) Pratt, 97, of Middletown, passed away Dec. 19, 2014 at Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Pratt. Donations in her memory may be made to Robert Potter League for Animals, P.O. Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.

George Edward Souza, 90, of Portsmouth, passed away Dec. 19, 2014 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown. He was the husband of the late Helen Souza. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
