Handbell Choir at Emmanuel

The handbell choir at Emmanuel Church is looking for new ringers to join the group. They rehearse Sundays from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St. and will begin work in January for the Easter season. Prior musical experience is helpful but not necessary. New Members at UCC

The United Congregational Church in Middletown welcomed new members during worship on Dec. 14. Lorraine Buffman, Candice Noll, Richard Adams, Nancy Adams, Peter Spring, Susan Spring, and Luci Veitch joined the UCC family.

Trinity’s First Sunday of Christmas

Trinity Church invites all to celebrate the first Sunday of Christmas on Dec. 28 at the 8 a.m. worship with Holy Eucharist Elizabethan language spoken service (no music), and at 10 a.m. with Holy Eucharist modern language, hymns and Christmas carols. At 4 p.m. join the Trinity choir and community voices for Christmas on Historic Hill: A Service of Lessons and Carols.

St. Mary’s Portsmouth

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, will celebrate the arrival of the Three Kings on Sunday, Jan. 4, during the 10:30 a.m. service. The twelve days of Christmas will not officially end until the Feast of the Epiphany on Jan. 6, but the kings will be welcomed a few days early. Hear the story of their arrival – and enjoy king cake after worship.

Financial Peace University

Calvary United Methodist Church will run the Financial Peace University program for nine weeks, beginning Jan. 15. The Thursday classes will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. and child care is available. FPU consists of a nine-week video curriculum taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey, and it incorporates small group discussions that help encourage accountability and discipleship.
