Chanukah Candle Lighting Party

Congregation Jeshuat Israel of Touro Synagogue will host a Chanukah Candle Lighting Party on Sunday, Dec. 21, with latkes, music, dancing and more. The free event will be held at the Levi Gale House, 85 Touro St., from 3-5 p.m. Reserve at cji@tourosynagogue.org.

Focal Winds Holiday Concert

The woodwind trio Focal Winds will perform a free holiday concert at Emmanuel Church on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m. The program will include works by Bach and Beethoven, as well as holiday favorites. For more information, call 401- 847-0675.

Chanting at Emmanuel

The chanting group will meet Saturday, Dec. 20, at 9 a.m. at Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St., in the All Saints Chapel. Chanting improves receptivity and focus, raises energy levels, and helps listening skills. All are welcome. For information, call 401-847-0675.

Living Nativity

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 525 Broadway, will hold a Live Nativity outside on Sunday, Dec. 21, from 4-7 p.m.

Breakfast and Photos with Santa

Portsmouth United Methodist Church will host a breakfast and photo op with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Saturday, Dec. 20, from 8-10 a.m. at the church, 2732 East Main Road. Tickets are $5 per person, with a maximum of $20 per family, and may be purchased in advance from Chris Farley at cfarley@c21newport.com or 401-465-4456.

Episcopal Joint Christmas Service

Newport’s Episcopal churches will hold a joint Christmas Day celebration at 10 a.m. at Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St. The parishes of Trinity and St. John the Evangelist will join in the service of Holy Eucharist with carols at Emmanuel. Financial Peace University

Calvary United Methodist Church will run the Financial Peace University program for nine weeks, beginning Jan. 15. The Thursday classes will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. and child care is available. FPU consists of a nine-week video curriculum taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey, and it incorporates small group discussions that help encourage accountability and discipleship. 'Newportopoly' Benefits Choir Program

Proceeds from the game's sales will benefit the Choir School of Newport County, a choral education program for area youngsters founded as a partnership between Emmanuel, Trinity and St. John the Evangelist churches. Visit thechoirschoolri.org for more information.
