Redesigned Taste of Newport a Smash

Photos by Jen Carter

Andy Taur Andy Taur Child & Family’s newly-redesigned Taste of Newport fundraiser was a resounding success, bringing in more than $100,000 to serve the island’s neediest families. The alwaysfabulous soirée, held Nov. 16 at Hotel Viking, was elevated to a new level this year. The 31st annual event began with the signature Taste Experience, where guests got to sample culinary treats from 30 local caterers, restaurants, bakeries, and confectioners. Debuting this year was the Dine Experience – a smash according to Keith Tavares, vice president of institutional advancement – a fine dining adventure by eight of the area’s top chefs. Tavares noted that the new format is here to stay – and that the over-the-top benefit would not have been possible without great community support and the strong partnership with Hotel Viking, Newport Restaurant Group and Rentals Unlimited.
