Sprucing Up the Wharf

The 30-foot white spruce from Portsmouth that will serve as the Christmas centerpiece on Bowen's Wharf was delivered to the waterfront on Wednesday, Nov. 19. It was cut down earlier in the day and transported by Steve Casey and son James of Casey Tree Specialists. The tree, donated by Jennifer Corcoran, was planted in 1990 by John and Jane Richardson and their children. Corcoran, who bought the Richardsons’ home in 2013, recalls the family decorating the tree for years until it got too tall to complete. Bowen’s Wharf will host its 44th annual community-wide tree lighting on Saturday, Dec. 6, with activities beginning at 4:30 p.m. (Photo by Jack Kelly) The 30-foot white spruce from Portsmouth that will serve as the Christmas centerpiece on Bowen's Wharf was delivered to the waterfront on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
